How to Get to Yanayacu from Quito

1. Find a bus leaving from the Terminal Terrestre that is heading towards Tena.

2. Buy your ticket only as far as Cosanga. This should be around 3 dollars and takes about 4 hours.

3. Get off the bus in Cosanga. If you want to make sure you get off in the correct town, ask the bus driver to tell you when you have arrived in Cosanga.

4. Cosanga has one main road (paved), which is also the main "highway" where you will get off the bus. The bus usually drops you off in front of the restaurant "La Enmita," which is right next to the only gas station.

5. Walk back along the highway in the direction the bus came, towards Quito, about 200 meters. The first and only gravel road on your left has signs at the bottom. The largest sign reads "Las Caucheras," which is the name of the road. You will also see signs for San Isidro Birding Lodge, El Aliso, and Sierra Azul. Turn left and walk up this road.

6. Walk 5 km (about one hour) up Las Caucheras road. Yanayacu is directly off the road on your right and has several signs to let you know you have arrived. The only other farm you will pass on your way to Yanayacu is 3 km up the road on the left and is called Hacienda San Isidro.

7. When you arrive at Yanayacu ask for Jose, the Station Manager. If you arrive and there is no one to meet you, please make yourself at home. We are out working in the forest and will be back shortly. The dog is friendly.
